Things To Do This Christmas In Thanet 2022
It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
Yes, it’s time to start getting in the mood for the festivities and having a good time!
So, to help you get in the Christmas spirit, we've compiled a list of very merry events around Thanet.
Starting off with a firm family favourite, the Christmas Cliftonville Farmer's Market. This award-winning Farmers' Market was established in 2001 by the Cliftonville Residents Association and is run entirely by volunteers. This year, local producers are selling everything from meats and speciality pies, to cheese and artisan bread, as well as luxury marshmallows and preserves. You can also expect to find vegan goodies from The Vegan Habit and plants from Martin's Plants!
The market is taking place on the 18th of December, from 10am until 1pm. You can find the market at:
Walpole Bay Lawns Behind Walpole Bay Hotel Fifth Avenue,
Cliftonville,
Margate,
CT9 3HF.

Next on the list is The Elf Express.
Make your way down to Quex Park and help the elves prepare for the big day while rewarding yourself with a sweet treat - or two. After that, you can wander down to Candy Cane Lane where you will find Santa and his real-life reindeer! You could also make your way to Santa's Toyshop, where you are able to select a gift that Santa has brought!
All of the good boys and girls are invited!
For this event you need to book ahead,

Another popular family favourite is Santa's Grotto. Journey to the top of Crampton Tower, through the elves’ workshop, to visit Father Christmas in his grotto where everyone who is on the good list receives one of their presents before it goes under the tree. Kids of all ages are welcome and if the weather permits, they can ride a 5-inch gauge miniature railway - the perfect early Christmas gift for any young train lover!
This event is taking place on the 17th and 18th of December, from 1pm until 4:30pm (last admission at 4pm) at the Crampton Tower Museum in Broadstairs. Tickets for this event are priced at £10 per child, accompanying parents and guardians (maximum of 2 per group) gain free entry. There is no pre-booking, so we recommend going earlier on to avoid disappointment.
Did we mention the pantomimes? Oh no we didn't!
Pantos are a festive classic that has to be done. This year, you're spoiled for choice! The traditional pantomime, Mother Goose, returns for another busy season at the Sarah Thorne Theatre. You can expect a full cast, live music and plenty of family fun!
Tickets start at £16. You can book here: https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/whats-on/broadstairs/sarah-thorne-theatre/mother-goose/e-eprrqm
Or, if you're fancying something a little bit more grown up there is It's Not A Panto! at the Tom Thumb Theatre. Isle Magazine has described the panto as a lowbrow, middle-class, slightly politically incorrect piece of light entertainment. A British Christmas love letter to Thanet.
Tickets start at £12. Follow the link to get yours: https://billetto.co.uk/e/it-s-not-a-panto-oh-yes-it-is-tickets-700514
